As part of this year’s Volunteer Appreciation Week, Habitat is highlighting the people who are at the heart of our organization and help to make our mission possible: our volunteers.
Today’s spotlight: The New Port Richey ReStore Grand Opening Committee.
Jessica Perry
Jessica Perry is the owner of Outdoor Craft and Game and is a member of our New Port Richey ReStore Grand Opening committee. This is her first volunteer experience with Habitat and she is loving it! “I think Habitat is an amazing charity that does so much for the community. It is gives you such an amazing feeling to know you are a part of something that is helping other families!” Jessica says. So far, her favorite part about volunteering on the committee has been hearing stories about families that have and will be helped in the program. She tells us, “It is an emotional and rewarding feeling to help others.”
As she continues to volunteer with Habitat, she is most looking forward to giving back. “I will never forget those who have helped me along in life and or in my career. So I want to be a part of that for others!” She also appreciates that Habitat was founded on Christian beliefs, which also aligns with her own beliefs. She is eager and excited to help out with the New Port Richey ReStore Grand Opening event happening on May 13th and 14th.
“Home is where you have endless opportunities!”
Peter Crampton
Peter Crampton is the Owner of Be Seen Pro and is a representative for Local Ad Face and also began volunteering on the ReStore Grand Opening Committee this year. He began to volunteer with Habitat after learning about the mission from one of our staff members. “My friend Robyn Liska started working for Habitat and she educated me about what they do. I was looking for a good cause to support and after talking to Robyn I knew that I wanted to help.” His favorite part about being on the committee is working to find local businesses to collaborate with in order to get the Habitat message out to the community.
Peter has only been a volunteer with us for a few months, but he has already attended events such as our Community Builders Breakfast in West Pasco. His favorite memory is when the homeowner candidates spoke at the breakfast. As a volunteer, he has enjoyed working with all of the awesome people he has met so far. He is also excited to help out with the ReStore Grand Opening event on May 13th and 14th.
“Home is where the family gathers. It is more than a building.”
