“Habitat for Humanity is the start of a new future to a great opportunity for my self and anyone who is looking to find a blessing.”
Ashley Rosa works at Maher Chevrolet in the Billing and Accounting department and is a single other to her 7-year-old daughter, Anais. Anais is smart, caring, and energetic and enjoys drawing, painting, and being outside – rain or shine! The mother-daughter-duo considers themselves simple-basic people with a strong faith and love for others. The two love being outdoors together and especially enjoy fishing.
“I have always come from a family that was low income,” Ashley says. “We didn’t have much, but we made the best of things.” She grew up in a family of five who was living in a two-bedroom apartment and was moving every 1-2 years. As she got older and began to raise her daughter, she realized she was living the same life she was when she was younger, hopping from apartment to apartment with no stable living situation. This is when Ashley decided to take the first step and apply for the Habitat for Humanity program. “This year was the year to make a change for my living situation. I wanted to be the first in my family to have a forever home.”
On the day of Ashley’s acceptance to the Habitat program, she entered our office with mixed feelings. “I had just come from a funeral home after cremating my father who had just passed a couple days prior. It was a tragedy and took a toll on me mentally, physically, and emotionally and I thought for a moment I needed to turn off my feelings coming into this office.” She was soon surprised with her acceptance into the program and instantly felt a sense of joy. “At that moment my feelings where turned back on with a sense that faith has my back.”
“What I look forward most about getting into my new home is the feeling I will have when I get handed those keys. To show my family, my mom, and my dad who is watching over me right now that I did it!” Ashley applied for the Habitat program to make a difference in the lives of her family. “Being with Habitat I think will get me a foot in the door of what is to come of owning my own home.”
