“The work that is being done is amazing, and the feeling you get after helping secure somebody a home is a feeling you won’t feel anywhere else.”
Robyn, an Assistant Manager for Panera Bread, is working towards her forever home. At 21 years old, she has kept a stable job for the past years, working for Panera since she was only sixteen. “I am very outgoing and love to meet new people. However, I am looking forward to the quietness that this house will bring.”
Robyn is the oldest child in her immediate family, and has outgrown the overcrowded home she was living in. Both of her grandmothers were in need of caregivers, which resulted in them moving in with her, her parents, and other siblings. The large amount of people in a small home left her looking for a new opportunity.
“I was overjoyed and emotional while holding my acceptance certificate.” Robyn is now working towards her safe and affordable home, and earning Sweat Equity Hours. “I’m hoping to learn the endurance, importance, and accomplishment that comes with helping the community while helping myself. I know I will truly feel the gratitude while standing in my home for the first time.”
“I’ll finally be in the comfort of my own home. I will have a place to raise a family later down the line, when I have had enough of my life of solitude. I’m looking forward to being able to decorate and design the house how I want, and I’m so excited to be able to say I have a Habitat home.”
Robyn is excited to not only be a homeowner, but work through the process of building a home, and feel the euphoria as her mom describes. “My home will be my Oasis. Everything is going to be worth it when I step into my home.”
Robyn’s home was dedicated on September 10th, 2021 and was sponsored by Michael & Carolina Holtz.
