“Habitat for Humanity is such a great program to be a part of. I will forever share my story and remain a volunteer to help others even after the program.”
Kasha Oliver is Relationship Specialist III at Grow Financial Federal Credit Union and has worked there for over five years. She is also a single mother to three children: 13-year-old Rihanna, 11-year-old Destiny, and 7-year-old Jordan. Her daughters are interested in dancing and cheerleading and her son loves to play football. Kasha describes her family as “fun, loving, caring, ambitious, loyal, and entertaining”.
One word that Kasha uses to describe her current living situation is “crowded”. She says “The kids all share one bedroom and are now getting older and could use more space. Sharing one bathroom has been very challenging especially with trying to get the kids to bed at decent time after dinner and bath”.
Learning that her family was accepted into the Habitat program left Kasha in disbelief. “This is really happening. Since I submitted my application, my kids and I have been waiting for this day. I could not wait to get home to share the news with them and my family and friends. LET THE SWEAT BEGIN!” The Oliver family is excited to move into their new forever home and confidently say that they finally have stability. “My kids will have a childhood home where they have a neighborhood to grow up in. We no longer have to move from apartment to apartment because rent is too high. We have stability.”
Many of our homeowners, such as Kasha and her family, purchase their furniture from our Habitat ReStores, where new and gently used building materials and home furnishings are sold at discounted prices. If you are interested in donating, shopping, or volunteering at our ReStores, please check out our ReStore Page on our website for more information.
“Me and my kids have prayed for this. To have our own home to grow in is all we ever wanted!”
The Oliver Family Home was dedicated on October 7th, 2022.
