“My children will always have a place to call home and memories that will last a lifetime.”

Sherri, a general manager for a popular fast food chain, is a mother to four. “I am a very hard worker, and go above and beyond to get things done in order to provide for my kids. They keep me going. I want them to have a successful future.”

“I have a special bond with all of my kids that could never be broken.” Sherri’s oldest daughter, Jamiyah, loves to read, especially mystery books. She loves to spend time reading alone, as well as reading to her siblings. She is also very into Disney and art, and loves to color, paint, and draw. Sherri’s oldest son, Jeremiah, is very into video games, and could play all day if he was able to. He also likes superheroes, and plays out movie scenes with his brother. Her younger son, JoSiyah, loves animals, and learning everything about them. He loves the movie Black Panther, and says it reminds him of himself. Her youngest, JaNiyah, loves the movie Frozen, and watching Youtube videos. She also loves music, and “is a dancing diva,” says Sherri.

The family has had a long journey of finding a home. Through homelessness, jumping job to job, and relying on the bus or walking to work, Sherri is ready for this next step of having a stable place to live. “I am so blessed to be where I am today. It took a long time, but prayer changes things.” The family currently lives in an unsafe home that has been broken into multiple times. They have a rodent problem that causes them to have no furniture in the house. “I always prayed for a better living situation for me and my kids.”

Sherri was so excited to find out she was accepted into the Habitat program. “I am so blessed and thankful to have this opportunity in my life. I attend every class online, and have learned so much about being a homeowner.”
