What is a home worth? Just ask Mike Sutton, ’03, Life Member – president and CEO of the nonprofit Habitat for Humanity of Pinellas and West Pasco Counties.
Despite shortages, supply chain issues, and soaring prices, Habitat for Humanity of Pinellas and West Pasco Counties is on pace to build a record 70 homes in 2021. And, homeowners that joined the program decades ago are celebrating some major milestones.
A competitive living wage: In 2020, Habitat for Humanity of Pinellas and West Pasco Counties increased its minimum wage from $13.50 an hour to $15. Now it says is doing more. By 2024, its hourly rate will increase to $18. “Our board of directors and executive leadership team see this as an opportunity to lead the way for nonprofits to do our part to ensure our talent is making a livable wage,” said Mike Sutton, president and CEO of the affiliate in a statement.
