“Myself and my wife were overjoyed that we would be able to give our children a safe and forever home.”
Devin and Carissa live in St. Petersburg with their four children. Devin works as a plant operator and Carissa works as a food service professional, both at local elementary schools. They have a close-knit family who are “full of energy, laughter, and fun times.”
Their oldest daughter, D’Aja, is an all-around performer and loves to sing and dance. Their son, Devin, loves superheroes, wrestling, and being outdoors. Deondra is their “reserved” child who loves to be with the family and watch movies. Their youngest, Dania, has a very outgoing personality and “basically runs the house. She loves to be the boss,” says Devin.
The family of six lives in a cramped two-bedroom apartment. “We are busting at the seams, and if that wasn’t enough, there are always water leaks in our home that make it impossible to have a safe and healthy home.”
The family is overjoyed to soon have their forever home. “We will finally be able to have holidays with our families, and have space to move and make memories. The future looks bright for the Harrell’s. Our home will be safe, stable, spacious, comforting and ours.”
The family has loved putting in sweat equity hours, and is so grateful for all of the volunteer work that they have experienced. “The kind gesture of volunteering your time to help a homeowner complete their journey of new homeownership is greatly appreciated. If only you knew that your hands have forever been sewn into the walls of that home. Because of your kindness these HOC’s look forward to long-lasting memories in this forever.”
“Our house will be a safe haven.”
I’m so happy for this family who needs this wonderful start they have worked hard with lots of road blocks along the way but with the help of this program thing are looking up. God bless this family ❤
