“My house will be where I can create memories with my children and family!”
Carla Futch is a Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician at Fresenius Kidney Care. She is a mother of 8 children: Destiny, 24, Carlisha, 23, Lavaria, 22, Vakia, 20, Arkiria,18, and 16- year- old triplets; Zakhiyah, Lavoski, and Lavarius. Destiny works at Mid Florida Bank, and Carlisha graduated from FAMU! Lavaria is currently working towards her bachelor’s degree at USF and will soon be joined by Arkiria. Vakia is graduating from SPC with an AA in Social Work! The triplets are about to start 11th grade. Carla describes her family as very close, getting together as often as possible to spend time together.
Like many other families, Carla struggles to find affordable housing with the rent increases. As her kids grow older, they need more space and privacy, and Carla works hard to achieve this for her children. “My children is where my motivation comes from! I wanted to be able to provide for them and finally give them a home!” she tells us. “I work six days a week for almost two years now to make ends meet and to be able to be financially ready for Habitat for Humanity.” Carla’s hard work and dedication to bettering her and her children’s life got her ready for the Habitat program, and she is very grateful for the opportunity.
Carla hopes to set a strong foundation for her children, setting them up for the future generations to come. “I will provide generational wealth for my children so they can always have a place to call home.” She looks forwards to the future gatherings and quality family time her family will be able to take part in. With a new home, she most looks forward to a space where her kids can find privacy and comfort. Carla encourages others to volunteer to help others in achieving their dreams. “Please volunteer, you’re helping a family conquer their dream of becoming a home owner. You are a blessing just for taking time to lend a helping hand.” She is grateful for the blessings that she and many others have been granted and continues to support the organization.
