“I want the boys to have a solid foundation that they can call home.”
Meet Diane, a dedicated mother of two boys—Adisa, age 7, and Aziel, age 4. As a lead support specialist, she works closely with her team to provide essential services to the community. Diane and her sons enjoy spending time together at the beach and parks. Adisa is passionate about soccer, while Aziel loves exploring nature and anything related to water. They are both bright and excellent students.
Diane’s journey to find a stable home for her family has been challenging. Since moving to Florida, they have had to move frequently. Initially, they lived in an expensive two-bedroom complex but soon relocated to a more affordable option. Unfortunately, this complex attempted to raise prices after just a short time, forcing Diane and her boys to find another place to live. The uncertainty of their living situation made it difficult for them to focus on anything else.
When Diane was accepted into the Habitat for Humanity program, she felt a mix of excitement and nervousness. She knew it would be a journey but was hopeful for the future. “I imagine having a routine, the boys having their own spaces,” she shares. Diane looks forward to a home filled with laughter and success. The most exciting part for her is the prospect of cooking in her own kitchen, knowing she won’t have to plan for a move anytime soon.
For Diane, having a solid foundation for her sons is her primary goal. “I want the boys to have a solid foundation that they call home,” she says. This opportunity with Habitat for Humanity means the world to her, providing her family with stability and a sense of belonging. Diane’s story highlights the importance of affordable housing and the positive impact it can have on families.
